The name Blackberry Rose originated from my grandmother Lucy Rose who was a simple, old-school Italian woman. Grandma Rose wasn't afraid to “tell it like it is.” By me saying simple does not mean that she didn't have her share of knowledge. She was a master in the kitchen and the words “homemade” and “from scratch” were all she knew when it came down to cooking a good family meal. She made everything from homemade gnocchi, to the pizzelles that I still have fond memories of as a child; the smell of fresh anise in the morning was always a welcome scent. My grandmother was the inspiration behind our stores theme of, “It's your kitchen give it some flavor!” She was the flavor of our lives. But all good things come to an end. On December 30, 2004 my grandmother who loved her dry rye toast with blackberry jelly, left us. Her legacy still remains, and we are here to make sure that you as a customer are treated with the values that Lucy passed on to us as our mother, and grandmother.
Blackberry Rose, Grandma, we love you, and I know you love you too!
